On to this week’s post…

The questions this week are about relaxation and caring for oneself.

1. What is your Mom beverage of choice?

My very favourite after bedtime treat is strawberry wine. I have a pair of wine glasses that I engraved myself while I was working at a gift shop. They have our wedding monogram engraved on them.

I also like to curl up with tea or coffee. My favourite tea is Irish breakfast and for coffee I really appreciate my Keurig. I love the way coffee smells, but there is something about making tea that is cozy and makes me think of home. I like it very hot. The don’t think that the Keurig gets hot enough.

2. What do you do to relax?

When I need a break I like to go our for a walk. The nice thing about walking is that my daughter can come along. I also enjoy spending time in the kitchen and baking alone.

If I have a long time to relax I like to play The Sims. I’m a loyal fan. I’ve been playing it since the nineties. I remember standing in line at midnight to pick up my pre-order. Sims were little 2D pixel people back then. I’m playing The Sims 4 right now, but The Sims 2 and 3 had their strengths.

3. When was the last time you got away with girlfriends or alone (and the grocery store does NOT count)?

I got to go out by myself in the spring when I took a class about Catholic mass. It was very restful and I made some friends. Sometimes I go to mass with my family on the weekend and then go again, to another mass, just to have some peaceful time. I fail at social life.

  1. It’s so hard to find time to relax but I try to unwind each night before bed. I read every night until I fall asleep. That’s also when I do my bible study and pray it’s really the only time of day when the house is quiet and I can concentrate.
