Good Night, Baby Animals is the Cutest New Children’s Book

Bedtime is still a production at our house. Our every night routine includes bargaining and stomping, yelling and hopping. Sometimes even the six-year-old loses her temper! Bedtime stories are important to us. Though we’re phasing out the stack of picture books in favour of classics like Little House on the Prairie, we remember the ones that we read hundreds of times fondly.

That’s why it’s so nice to have a variety of good books to read at bedtime. Bonus if they’re books about bedtime! I jumped at the chance to review Good Night, Baby Animals You’ve Had a Busy Day: A Treasury of Six Original Stories by Karen B. Winnick. I received a free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

The illustrations by Laura Watkins are soft and warm with lots of detail to keep you and your child admiring the pretty pictures.

There are six stories featuring baby gorillas, pandas, giraffes, elephants, tigers, and rhinos. Is your kid’s favourite animal in the book? Each story is about the baby’s little adventures in the big wild world and the loving times that they share with their Mum and Dad. The stories flow rhythmically, with lots of fun actions and sounds. Toddlers will love to listen and bigger kids will enjoy reading this book. My daughter saw it arrive in the mail and read it before I had a chance.

If you liked We’re Going On A Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen (Shop Amazon US | CAN) and the Llama Llama books by Anna Dewdney (Shop Amazon US | CAN), you’ll like Good Night, Baby Animals (Shop Amazon US | CAN), too. Get a copy now and put it away for Easter. It would make a great gift.

Oooh, you’re speaking my language. Hearing “bedtime” inspires both great excitement and anxiety in me. My kids love the Llama Llama books and Going on a Bear Hunt, so this looks perfect! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

PS– Love the new layout and pic of you and June!

  2. This is great! I am absolutely in love with the cover photo of the book you recommend.

My son wasn’t a big fan of books, but my daughter loves them. So, we just might be exploring this recommendation a little further in the not too distant future!

    Thank you for the recommendation!
